Prize List Now Available for 2021 Capital Challenge Horse Show

Upper Marlboro, MD – The prize list for the 2021 Capital Challenge Horse Show, to be held October 1-10, 2021, at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, is now available online.
 
Entries for the 28th annual show open on Wednesday, August 4, at 10 a.m. ET and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To submit entries or to learn more about the electronic entry process, click here.  
 
“We are excited to be able to run our show back at its home in Maryland,” said Capital Challenge co-founder and show manager, Oliver Kennedy. “We have increased the prize money in a number of divisions this year, adding $20,000 to bring our total prize money offered to more than $400,000. We look forward to welcoming all of our exhibitors in October.”

The additional prize money will be divided among the following divisions:

  • Green Hunter 3’6” and 3’9”
  • High Performance Hunter Section
  • Green Conformation Hunter Section
  • High Performance Conformation Hunter Section
  • Performance Hunter 3’6” Section
  • Amateur Owner Hunter (all sections)
  • Junior Hunter (all sections)
  • Pony Hunter (all sections)
 
Capital Challenge will kick off 10 days of competition on Friday, October 1, with Equitation Weekend, presented by Bigeq.com, and featuring the EMO Insurance Agency/United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final – East, the Palm Beach International Academy (PBIA) North American Junior Equitation Championships, the North American Adult Amateur Equitation Championships, and the Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) National Children’s Medal Finals.
 
Beginning on Monday, October 4, Capital Challenge will host the nation’s best hunter horses and riders for hunter division competition and the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Hunter Challenges. Throughout the week, the show will offer WCHR Hunter Challenge classes for amateurs, adults, juniors, children, ponies, professionals, and developing professionals.
 
This year’s $5,000 WCHR Developing Pro Challenge, sponsored by the John R. Ingram Fund, and the $25,000 WCHR Professional Challenge, sponsored by the Rein Family, will be held on Wednesday, October 6. The top professional hunter riders in the country will also go head-to-head in the $10,000 WCHR Professional Finals on Friday, October 8, following the Ariat National Adult Medal Final that afternoon.
 
Each year, the up-and-coming stars of hunter sport are showcased at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in the $25,000 KASK 3' and 3'3" Green Hunter North American Championship, sponsored by the Wheeler Family. This year, the popular class will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 6.
 
The North American League (NAL) Finals will be back at Capital Challenge for the second year in a row. The hunter finals will open the week with the $10,000 NAL Children’s Hunter Final, sponsored by Equifit and NAL, to be held on Monday, October 4, and the $10,000 NAL Adult Hunter Final, sponsored by Equifit and NAL, taking place on Tuesday, October 5. Thursday evening’s schedule will include the $10,000 NAL Children’s Jumper Final and the $10,000 Adult Amateur Jumper Final, sponsored by SmartPak, while Saturday evening, October 9, will feature the $10,000 NAL Low Junior /Amateur-Owner Jumper Final.
 
The 2021 Capital Challenge schedule will also feature an additional jumper class, the $10,000 1.30m-1.35m Medium/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, on Saturday evening, October 9.

Held each autumn, the 2021 edition of the Capital Challenge Horse Show will take place from October 1-10. The 10 days of competition will include prestigious equitation events, jumper divisions, the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Finals, the $25,000 3’ and 3’3” Green Hunter North American Championships, and more, with many of the country’s best horses and riders competing in junior, amateur, and professional divisions.
